You and your now fiancé have decided to tie the knot on the gorgeous Spanish island of Ibiza. Congratulations! Hopefully you’ve gotten to the point of picking out a venue (or at least have a short list) as well as a tentative date in mind. Between stressful conversations about the guest list, budget, seating charts, etc., you need a break. Let’s talk about something fun – your dress! Ibiza has a vibe that’s all its own, and it tends to attract brides and couples who have a unique personal style. When you’re choosing your Ibiza wedding dress, there are a few things you should keep in mind. Together, we’ll find the “one”!

Consider your Ibiza wedding venue

You have probably already decided (or come close to a decision) about the general feel you want for your wedding. Most Ibiza weddings are either classically romantic beach weddings, bohemian or rustic weddings, or some combination of the two. This has a lot to do with the venue you choose for your ceremony and reception, and you want your wedding dress to fit in with the style of the venue you choose. A romantic beach wedding in Ibiza calls for a softly flowing dress with a lightweight material like chiffon or tulle, or a classic white strapless A-line dress with accessories that make it totally you. A garden or countryside wedding in Ibiza is the perfect backdrop for a lacey, boho dress with spaghetti straps or fluttering, off-the-shoulder sleeves. A sweet tea-length dress would work perfectly in both of these settings. Make it your own, but keep the setting in mind.

Don’t forget about the weather in Ibiza

Wedding season can be pretty hot in Ibiza, which is why most weddings are held around sunset. Still, you can bet on it being quite warm, so make sure you take that into account when choosing your dress – Ibiza is not the ideal setting for a heavy, velvety Renaissance style gown.

Keep things soft and romantic

Life in Ibiza is very relaxed, so overly formal wedding gowns can feel out of place here. You could conceivably choose a beaded and sequined princess ball gown for an indoor wedding and reception, but it might be too much for an outdoor affair (and you would miss out on the beautiful scenery!). Similarly, very modern, contemporary or minimalist style wedding dresses might not work very well with the atmosphere of this little island. However, these are merely guidelines – if you have found one of these types of gowns and are certain it’s perfect, then perfect it is!

Stay true to yourself

You should feel like a million bucks on your wedding day, so the most important factor when choosing a wedding dress for Ibiza is the same as anywhere else: pick a dress that you are comfortable in, that makes you feel beautiful and captures your personality for your big day.
